Hostel

No. I’m not referring to the movie. I’m actually referring to something much more exciting and slightly less disturbing: I just booked my hostel in Dublin. It’s called the Ashfield House, and it will be the place I call home during my first week in Ireland. I know! Exciting, isn’t it? Believe it or not, I have more excitement to add to this already exciting news. I have a picture of it:

I know it may not look like much from the outside, but it’s pretty cheap (39 Euros a night) and newly renovated. Plus, it’s the only hostel that has en suite rooms available for the whole week, so I get the luxury of having a bathroom in my dorm room. Of course, I’ll possibly be sharing that bathroom with 5 other people, but it’s still way better than having to use the communal bathroom. I’ll also be in the city centre and in close proximity to Temple Bar Square, so maybe, in between job hunting, I’ll be able to make some time to get my nipples pierced or something. Just kidding. Everyone knows about my nipple piercing phobia (I think, anyway). Seriously though, I would like to at least browse through the vintage clothes or get a pint before moving to my next destination—whether it be in Dublin or elsewhere.

So besides making copies of my passport and all that jazz, I’m pretty much set until I arrive in Dublin on June 11th. Yeah. I am going to Dublin first—mostly because that’s where I have to do the mandatory orientation, the paper work for taxes, and all that fun stuff. I’m actually hoping to move to Galway and make that my mainstay, because it seems—from what I read—less touristy than Dublin and more bohemian than Cork. Still, it really just depends on where I can actually get a job and an accommodation. Oh well. Really, in the end, any of those places will probably turn out to be cool, so as long as I’m in Europe with a job and a place to live, I’m not going to complain.
